Why Google Likes Yahoo’s Directory But Not Yours?
If you buying links or paying directories to place links you may find this post interesting.
Google is tracking down on all the paid links and banning sites( in other words dropping them from its index). A site could have a page rank 5 today and completely gone tomorrow.
Have your ever paid Yahoo $250 to get you site listed on their directory?. I have, I paid yahoo $250 to get this blog listed.
Recently someone asked Matt Cutts of google this brilliant question.
- “If paid links are penalized by google, how come yahoo is still charging money for its directory placement and why google is not banning yahoo directory”
Here is what Matt Cutts had to say about this..
- Google appreciates yahoo’s manual scrutiny process of approving links to be placed on its directory.
Yahoo apparently rejects more paid links than it accepts on a daily basis. Also a directories progressive outreach is important on how its links are measured.
So if you have a directory of your own, should you call google and tell them that you have rejected 10 out of 20 paid link requests you received today. Not sure what the process is, may be there is a process.
Sometime ago, I remember reading that google is not valuing yahoo directory links as much any more.. What does it mean by as much? no one knows.
One this is very clear, paying for relevant links is not a bad idea. A relevant back link has its own relevance in SEO world.
