List Building With A Busy Blog
Finding harmony between Blogging & List Building is difficult to achieve.. but not impossible.
I’m saying that after running numerous blogs across 100’s of niches. Blogs are designed to be busy. List building is all about single, focused action. They just don’t go hand in hand.
Let’s take the example of this blog. You see the option box on the top left corner. The conversion on that one is pretty poor…to be precise only 3%. I tried having a interrupt driven footer optin box. The conversion went up to 18% but again the code started interfering with the javascript ( using which this wordpress blog has been coded) so I had to disable it.
I tried the lightbox the conversion was astronomical… about 54%, but the opt out rate was pretty high too. two out of every three people who opted in opted out after getting my second email.
What that tells you is.. you just cannot trick people to get on your list and any short cuts to list building are just shortcuts. Remember the saying.. “There are no shortcuts to any place worth going”
After all, is list building possible with a busy blog?
Just place the optin code in each and every post. Preferably in the beginning or to the end of the post and watch your conversions rates skyrocket.
For example
This is easy to setup, and the quality of the people whom you attract is very high. Trust me at the end of the day its the quality list that matters, not the quantity.
