Yes, too many widgets do slow it down. But again that notion is becoming old too. With advancements in wordpress and hosting companies becoming wordpress friendly we will see this become a non issue in future.

For now I would restrict my widget usage. This blog has no side widgets at all. -

Hi Srini,
Great information. No fuss, clearly explained. Exactly what I was looking for and I will recommend your video to my readers.
One question: I'm running WP 2.9.2 and the dashboard is a bit different. But I guess I'll just go to editor> sidebar.php> copy/paste the code.> update.
Why do too many text widgets slow the page loading process down?

Hi Andrea,

Since the video was created and posted, there had been several upgrades to wordpress. The current wordpress version 2.8 interface looks completely different from the older versions such as 2.2.

Looks like I need to upgrade this video. I will do that at the earliest.

My dashboard doesn't look like this. I can't find a design tab. Also is this the free hosted version of WordPress or does this need to be on a hosted site to put on an opt in box? thanks, Andrea

To add a graphic to the header, you have to see if your theme is allowing to upload header graphics.

Alternatively you can edit the theme’s header.php file to add the image. I wouldn’t recommend you do this, if you are uncomfortable doing it.. Just find a developer on Elance and outsource it. It would not cost you much for this task

I was looking for information to add a custom graphics on my home page. I was able to put the form on my side bar through theme editor. The form is a graphic optin form I purchased.

No idea buddy. All I did is I outsourced the design and they managed it. I have no clue how to do it.
