These are EXACTLY the techniques the so called gurus use to get people's attention. But then, they don't go and tell us that they got $0 sales! LOL There is an old adage in advertising which applies here, "It ain't creative unless it sells." 6000 visitors sounds great until we learn there were no sales. 50 visitors doesn't sound impressive, but if you made 25 sales, then that is fantastic!
