OK, this is clicking with me (sorry, thoughts coming in staccato, it's late here in Ohio)... if I can think of my blog as a form of media and I'm a reporter, this is something with which I am familiar. I've been a newspaper reporter, is this really that much different? Some information comes from myself and my opinions, sure, but a lot of content could come from interviewing other sources. This makes it much easier for me to see how I can create content for my websites (notice the plural). I have too many ideas and too many interests for one. I'll probably keep CassiesStuff.com as I intended - a site of my varied interests and thoughts, but it will be a jumping off point with links to the subject specific sites. Ok... OK... I can do this... if I can get past the technical walls, I'll be good. A technical site is one you will NOT be seeing in my list of sites! LOL

OK, I need to go to bed now, it is 12:40 a.m. and I have to get kids up at 6:30 and off to school. Now if I could just shut my brain down so easily...

Oh, and another thought... like any good reporter, you need to be prepared with background information on the people you're likely to meet at an event like that. Or if it is a scheduled interview, even more important to go into it somewhat knowledgeable about the person you are interviewing.

Wow! That's exciting! I liked your typical theme question... "What is the one best tip you would offer new bloggers" (or something like that, I'm paraphrasing." It was a quick, concise way to start an interview and one that seemed to be likely to get a willing response.

Hi Cassie,

I have never met any of these people in the past. I just happen to walk up to them and ask them for an interview, in 9 out of 10 times it works.

Some agree right away, some need more requests. But bottom line is I have never come across anyone who ever said no to an interview. :)-

Best of luck.

Cheers!

Srini,
What I find most fascinating about these videos is your ability to walk up to people and ask for an interview! I guess you can't be shy in this business! LOL I'm guessing you knew some of these guys, but others you didn't? How receptive were the people at the Expo to your quick interviews? How often were you turned down?

I'm going to need to invest in a Flip Camera as I have some ideas for a gardening blog utlizing my own back yard, which needs some serious gardening work. Why not show a how-to by starting from scratch in my own yard? I could interview local gardening specialists and even attend the home & garden shows and catch interviews that way. I used to be a news reporter, so now I have to think of myself still as a reporter, just that the medium is my own blog. Is that correct? Are bloggers gaining more credibility these days as serious reporters? I like posts like yours because it gets the ideas moving, not that I have ever lacked ideas. It's the follow through when I hit a wall - like when I don't know what to do next.
