Need Long Tail Rankings & Viewer Stickiness? Create Content From Biographies
Today on this post I want to touch a very rare technique on creating sticky content for your blog. This has to do with using “ Biographies” as a source of inspiration for creating outstanding content.
This is a very settled strategy, it works very well and that too for a reason. People are curious to learn from other successful people. The incline towards whom they cherish. Some even go to the extent of emulating and worshiping them.
For example, people who want to own expensive cars tend to buy expensive car magazines, people who are driven in life tend to study other successful people by reading their biographies.
Now that I have explained the behavior of people. The next steps is to create the information that these people are seeking and feed this behavior.
- Create a list of heroes that are related to your domain. For example if your blog is about “Freedom Fighters” create a list of freedom fighters that you want to blog about.
- Do some research, the best place to start is http://books.google.com. Potentially a lot of content about these freedom fighters can be found in old books.
- Do some research on Wikipedia.org
- Consolidate all the information about your heroes and then re-write, re-phrase it with your own words, thoughts and view points. ( This is the tough one, but you get the idea)
- Track the visitors to your post. Soon your blog will starting raking high for the long tail.
- Think big, a lot of countries got freedom in 20th century, if you start naming all the heroes for each of these countries, you probably have enough names to blog for the rest of your life
I accidentally discovered this technique after making a post on my personal blog titled: “col. Sanders and the legendry story of Kentucky fried chicken”.
Later I turned this technique into a foundational strategy for my blogging business. Every time I start a blog I start with “Biographies” if the blog concept blends well into one.
One of my recent niche authority Blogs is about “Immigrant Millionaires”. This niche blog is completely built on this concept.
If you can implement this strategy, you will achieve two things. You blog will rank higher on search engines for the long tail, you bounce rates will go down and your readers will come back more often, effectively increasing the stickiness.
Occasionally you can also use biographies as filler content on your blog to disguise time latencies between posts too.
